The Absence of Despise – Being Like Jesus

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

1 John 4:16 (New Living Translation)

The Bible states one thing about God hating something.  God hates sin.  He doesn’t hate the sinner, only the sin.

We have a hard time with that these days.  I see so much hatred among people today.  If you think differently about an issue, you are satan himself.  There is no grace anymore in our relationships.  That frightens me greatly.

God hates and despises what sin does to us.  He does not hate who you are.  We mix that up, often.  It is so easy to think that we are to hate sin, and hate the sinner.  This is so unfortunate.  God hates no one.  He can despise no one.  He can only hate the sin and what it does in our lives.  He cannot change His feeling for you and about you.  It is impossible.  God’s love for you and me as people is completely absent of hatred.  He could never hate you…only the sin that hurts you and me.

You can trust this kind of love to never let you down.  People will always let you down, but God’s love cannot let you down.  He is faithful.  Depend on His love.  It is free from hatred for you.  Count on that…
